Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc)

Bachelor of vocation (B.Voc) is a three-year under graduate vocational or skill based course. Under UGC guidelines in 2017; B.Voc was launched in 12 Government Degree Colleges across 10 districts in Himachal Pradesh; under Department of Higher Education and supported by HPKVN. It is recognized by Himachal Pradesh University. Currently B.Voc is offered in two sectors of Retail Management and Tourism and Hospitality.

B.Voc is an emerging professional degree course in India which aims to prepare trained workforce for industry. B.Voc is offered in various sectors. Students are equipped with required skill set for a particular industry and job role through practical training and industry exposure. B.Voc course enhances the employment opportunity of students.

Eligibility: 10+2 passed students with (traditional schooling or vocational subjects) or equivalent are eligible to enroll into the programme.

B.Voc curriculum: is mapped to job role descriptions as per National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF). It is a credit based course with multiple entry and exit points.
Curriculum has two components of 40% General Education and 60% skill component. Industrial visits and Guest Lectures by Industry Experts are key features of the programme and On the Job Training (OJT) is an integral part of the course.

Assessment and Certification: External Assessment Agency approved by respective Sector Skill Council conducts assessment of Vocational/Skill Component. And Sector Skill Council certifies the successful candidates.

After completing B.Voc., graduates can take up employment, set up their own business or go for higher studies such as M.Voc (Master of Vocation).
